Parallel Pack Drop 2
With the second pack drop approaching in just under a week, your frens at Yunt Capital wanted to give you a primer on what you need to know and how you can prepare for the pack drop on October 30th at 5pm EST.
Overview
For the uninitiated, Parallel is a sci-fi trading card game centered around the events of five human colonies (Earthen, Marcolian, Augencore, Kathari and Shroud), each with distinct skills and specializations, vying to reclaim planet earth. At its core, Parallel utilizes NFTs on the Ethereum network which provides players and collectors ownership of their assets as opposed to what you see in games like Hearthstone where the players do not own what they purchase or claim in packs.
Whether you want to dive into gameplay mechanics and create decks to battle with your friends online via mobile or desktop, collect the art, or buy and sell on the open market, the digital assets you acquire are yours and it’s up to you what you want to do with them!

Preparation for Pack Drop 2
Pack Drop 2 (PD2) is the second installment of card releases after the original presale and it takes place on October 30th at 5pm EST. The mechanism in which you get packs is by clicking a reservation button when the timer strikes 5pm EST — similar to how a PS5 or the latest sneaker is released. It comes down to how quickly you can reserve/buy!
In preparation for the pack drop you’re going to need to follow these steps:
- Sign-up for an account at Parallel.Life prior to the release drop date.
- Load up a wallet* with some ETH depending on how many packs you’d like to buy. This is not a prerequisite as you’ll have time a 24 hour time frame to make purchases, but it’s better to have it ready.
- Be on time at 5:00pm EST and click as quickly as possible.
*For those new to cryptocurrencies, you will need a wallet to interact with Parallels website, we recommend MetaMask.
Other tips:
- There is a “SET MAX RESERVE” button that will likely be colored in yellow/chartreuse. If you click it, it will fill the cart for maximum reservation which is 3 core packs, 3 enhanced packs, and 3 premium packs. This is the fastest way to reserve. Please note this is the UI from Pack Drop 1 so it will look slightly different.
- If you didn’t receive your desired fill in the first click — Reserve and keep trying. You may be able to get your fill after a couple tries. Bots and spoofers are being filtered from the reservations by the team and when they are identified, their packs are released back into the available pack pool.
Types of Packs to Reserve
There will be 3 pack types available at the drop in 0.01ETH, 0.1ETH & 0.2 ETH prices, each with a 3 pack max limit on how many can be purchased on a 5-minute timer. Once the 5-minute timer is up you can fill your cart again. The more expensive the pack, the high-quality tier of card you’ll be able to open. Here is an outline of the 3 packs available and what they’ll give you:
CORE PACKS (0.01E) will give you 4 cards:
- Three from Tier 4
- One from Tier 3
From the Tier list below, the most probable card you can get from a core pack is a Standard Rare but it also gives you four chances for a Common Special Edition [SE] or higher. Core packs are player-friendly and for those that want to collect in quantity.
ENHANCED PACKS (0.1E) will give you 3 cards:
- Two from Tier 3
- One from Tier 2
The card with the highest probability of being opened in an Enhanced Pack is an uncommon special edition[SE] or perfect loop[PL]. Uncommon SEs currently available on secondary are selling for around 0.12E, which makes the enhanced pack a great value choice.
PREMIUM PACKS (0.2E) will give you 1 card:
- One from Tier 1
Lastly, the premium pack is geared towards the elite collector and has the highest quality of cards. With this selection, you have a 54% chance of getting Legendary SE (250 supply) and a 46% chance of getting a card from the Prime category which includes the rarest cards in the game such as concept cards, Prime Keys, Catalyst Drives, and Masterpieces. This is likely be the most sought-after pack, and with limited supply, will most likely sell out immediately.
Card Supply Info
Parallel has released some very informative infographs pertaining to PD2 as seen below. One big difference between this pack drop and the first is that there are roughly double the amount of packs in this release! This is likely due to a percentage of the previously held back cards in PD1 being released into this round. We should expect a percentage of held back cards in PD1 and PD2 to be released in future pack drops.
Alternatively, Parallel has released an easier to read list of all of the cards available in packs and the amount held back for future drops. There are 1404 Prime level rarity cards out of a total 90,384 cards released. Add in all the SE cards and we have plenty to be excited about.
Card Art
Parallel has recently onboarded Chris Bjerre and Dhenzel Obeng to an already top tier art team. With this expansion, we can expect more incredible pieces expanding the parallel mythos and at a quicker rate. We’ve seen roughly half of the PD2 cards revealed so far and they have not disappointed. Here are a few of our favorites.
Things We Like
Unpacking this info, there a few points we’re excited about:
- Looks Rare — While the pack totals have been doubled to feed a growing fanbase of hungry collectors, the base card quality remains the same. To date, standard commons and uncommons have not released in packs from the Pre-sale or PD1 pools. The lowest tier base card you can receive in PD2 is a Standard Rare which is still fantastic.
- The First Son of Mars — Only 1 of this infamous playable card is left to be distributed and it will be released in this pack drop. There are 5 total in existence and likely the last chance anyone has to realistically own one without spending a good deal of money. If that isn’t enough to get you excited, this is the card’s ability:
Waste this Relic and choose a unit in your Waste. Return it to the field. When this is banked, gain 3 energy. - The Core — We can imagine pack drops being defined by new card types that are introduced into Parallel ecosystem. As PD1 was defined by Catalyst Drives, PD2 may be be known as the Core drop. The Core is a 500 supply new asset card which was teased back in August. We didn’t know it was a future card at the time and other than a cryptic message about holding onto your assets we were left looking for answers. It’s likely the function of the Core, along with Prime Keys and Galaxy Keys will be answered in the much anticipated Prime Proposal which is slated to be released shortly after PD2.
- Pacing — Judging by the rate with which the held back cards are being released, it looks like there are likely 4 more pack drops to distribute the full alpha set. With pack drops being released every quarter, we can assuming timing of desktop and AR game development to cue with these pack drop milestones.
Conclusion
Whether you want to play, collector, or buy and sell, you’ll be able to kickstart your collection in Pack Drop 2. We, as well as many others are anticipating an unreal amount of demand for these cards and expect these to sell out almost instantly. Whether or not you are able to secure some packs, don’t fret as there is always an opportunity to buy cards on the marketplace as well as future pack drops.
